Frequently Asked Questions

Is it safe to buy a diamond over the internet?
At Danbert Diamonds, you are not buying directly from us.  We refer you to only well established internet sellers, with great repuations, and with Better Business Bureau seals of approval.  Your merchandise is shipped full insured, and it is 100% refundable if not satisfied.

Why are you so much cheaper than my local jewelry store as well as other internet sellers?
We are primarily a wholesale diamond broker. We have connections with the largest wholesale diamond sellers in the world.  These connections, as well as our negotiating clout means we can offer cheaper prices than both local stores, and other internet sellers.. Because of our extremely high volume, and low cost of doing business over the internet, we can pass these saving along to you.

Are you diamonds enhanced or treated in any way?
Danbert Diamonds does not deal treated or enhanced diamonds. They are 100% natural. It is illegal to sell these diamonds without full disclosure.

Do you charge sales tax?
Unless your order is shipped to an address the sell is in, they will not collect sales tax. Like any other mail order company, they are only obligated to collect sales tax for the state where they have a location. We are confident that you will voluntarily pay the appropriate sales tax to your state government if due.

Why is a GIA grading report so important?
Allow us to explain about certificates. The simple fact is all jewelers cannot sell the same diamond for the best price, but they still must make it appear that way. Thus many other certificates exist that are far from accurate, and it appears you are getting the same grade diamond, for much less money. In the end, the real question is, just because some certificate states the diamond is a certain grade, will GIA agree? Most likely not, thus these other certificates can be discounted quite substantially, depending on how inaccurate they are. Nothing wrong with buying a certified stone that is not GIA, as long as you understand this, and pay accordingly. It is also ESSENTIAL that you get the original certificate with the diamond, not at a later date.

How can I pay for the purchase?
You can pay via  Mastercard, Visa, Discover, American Express, as well as bank wire transfers. Please notice on the diamonds it is  approx. 2.50% cheaper to pay via bank wire. Merchants have to pay the bank this percentage to accept the credit card, by using bank wire, we can pass the savings along.

How do I send a bank wire?
A bank wire is a direct transfer of funds from your account to ours. You usually must visit a branch to sign an authorization, and the charge is normally about $15. You simply provide your bank with our routing and account information, and the transaction is normally done within an hour or two.

Are items returnable if not satisfied?
At Danbert Diamonds, we only refer you to merchanst who have a policy to give a 100% refund if not satisfied for any reason, with the exception of shipping costs. The merchandise must be postmarked within (7) days of receipt, and returned in original condition, along with any associated certificates. If you choose to return any items, just call or email the merchant to inform them of the return. It's that simple! If you need more time than the (7) days, in most cases we can have this policy extended, just request this when ordering.

How do you ship, and how quickly?
In stock items with 24 hours. Merchant will send Fed Ex with insurance, and cost is $35. On items under $2,000, we also have a Fed Ex 2 day option for $15.  Even in ring, most orders can be shipped in 2-4 days.

How do I ship a return if needed?
Ship only via U.S. Post Office Registered Mail with insurance. This is the safest and best way to send. It is not overnight, time is usually 2-4 days.

Do you set the diamonds, and can you size the rings?
If you purchase diamond and ring through us, setting and sizing is done no charge.

Are rings 14K rings available in platinum, and vice versa?
Regardless of how they are shown or priced, virtually all items are available in 14K yellow or white, 18K yellow, platinum or palladium.

What are the advantage and disadvantages of white gold versus platinum?
Platinum is generally more expensive, about $800 more per ring than white gold. It is more durable in that it will not wear out as quickly as white gold, however platinum will actually bend and scratch a bit easier. Platinum will keep its steely white color forever, where white gold will tend to "yellow" a bit. Platinum will also have more of a matte finish, and white gold a bit more of a shine.

What is palladium?
Palladium is one of the hottest new metals and sister metal to platinum.  Want the quality of platinum without the high cost?  Palladium is the answer.  It is a platinum group metal, itis considered a precious metal, and it has premium white color that will not fade and does not need rhodium plating.  Like platinum, it will keep the steely white color forever.  It is nickel free, tarnish resistant and more durable than white gold.  It has the look of platinum, and the cost of gold.

What is an ideal cut, and how important is this?
This question can be answered in the Diamond Education section of our site.

Do you ship internationally?
We ship to most counties, however please email to confirm this and to get shipping rates. Most range from $75 to $125 via Fed Ex. Please note you are responsible for any import duty/tax, which I would verify with a local customs official. Any import charges must be paid by you to customs upon arrival of the or they will not release the package.

Do you offer any long term warranties?
As we are selling for wholesale prices, and are not in a position to inspect the items on a regular basis, and thus do not offer long term warranties. We suggest covering the items on your homeowners or renters insurance. In most cases they insure against loss, theft, damage, etc. You can also purchase online from jewelersmutual.com

Do you do appraisals?
We have gemologists (GIA) on staff, and offer insurance appraisals at no charge on items puchased from us. Just request this when ordering.

Do you offer upgrades?
We are always happy to take your diamond in trade, however again, as we are primarily wholesale, full value is not guaranteed. We can normally come pretty close, though.

Do you offer trade ins, or buy diamonds?
We only accept GIA certifed stones. Email us a GIA cert copy.   You MUST include a note stating you want a trade in price, or a buy price, and include your email address. We will email a quote promptly.
